Edward Norton’s Charitable Life On Crowdrise

Award-winning actor Edward Norton has launched a fundraising website: Crowdrise.com.

Crowdrise is about volunteering, raising money for Charity and having the most fun in the world while doing it. Crowdrise is way more fun than anything else aside from being all nervous about trying to kiss a girl for the first time and her not saying something like ‘you’ve got to be kidding me.’

Celebrities using the service to promote their causes include Will Ferrell, Jonah Hill, Kristen Bell, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogan among others.

On his Crowdrise page Edward comments, ‘I’ve just started on Crowdrise and I’m very excited by it. I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time and put a lot of thought into what would make fundraising and activism fun and easy for people…this is a GREAT way to do it. I encourage anyone checking this out to start your own page, share what you care about and what organizations you support and back your friends efforts.

I sponsor and support a number of different efforts that I admire in conservation, community development, global health and the arts. I’m on the Board of all the organizations I’ve listed here and I’m hugely inspired by the work each is doing. Apart from my day job, these groups and the people involved in them are among the most fun and rewarding experiences I’ve had in my life.

The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust is a fantastic community conservation effort working the Maasai people of Kenya to preserve their ecosystem and create sustainable benefits for local people. The Maasai Marathon campaign we organized raised over $1 million, much of it small donations raised through fun social networking. The money we raised will be used to help lion populations recover, secure land conservancies, and provide employment, education and medical services to the Maasai communiity.

Enterprise Community Partners, works to move families up and out of poverty and transform low-income communities through the development of decent affordable housing and social service networks. Enterprise works in over 250 American cities and is one of the largest non-profit developers of affordable housing in America with well over 200,000 new affordable homes created in the last two decades.

New York’s Signature Theater Company is the only theater in the country that devotes an entire season each year to the work of one living American playwright. I got my first professional acting job with Signature and in its nineteen years this theater has been repeatedly recognized as one of the most important and outstanding theaters in America. We’re now building an incredible new complex of three theaters on 42nd St, designed by Frank Gehry.

Friends of High Line has built one of the coolest new public spaces in America by converting an old train track into an elevated park.

The National Conservation Lands Foundation was started by my father and other great conservation leaders to preserve some of America’s most treasured natural and historic places.
