The answers are that Princess Kate’s exquisite wedding dress was modern with a nostalgic and traditional spin, reminiscent of Princess Grace’s wedding dress from 1956, in white lace and satin, elegant and appropriate for the occasion and the stunning woman wearing it. And indeed, Kate definitely wore the dress, not it, her.

The bodice was fitted and lead to an ‘almost’ bustle effect at the back and slightly padded ‘McQueen’ hips which served to emphasise Kate’s tiny waist. The fitted full-length lace sleeves had delicate button detail and added a modest and demure aspect to this much watched bride’s fairy-tale dress.


The designer was Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen although it seems that Kate Middleton was involved in it’s creation, as it definitely reflects her style.

The train was 9ft long and the veil, that fell to her waist, was created with layers of ivory silk tulle edged with hand-embroidered flowers and covered a 1936 diamond ‘halo’ Cartier tiara that was loaned to Kate by HRH The Queen.

Maid Of Honour Pippa Middleton’s dress was also a McQueen creation but with a much ‘sexier’ silhouette altogether.
